Bus crashed into stairwell

Night to sunday a bus collided with a taxi in the roundabout outside Danderyds hospital. The bus driver lost control of the bus and it ran over a traffic island and stopped when it crashed through a building at the bus terminal.
At first it was said it was the entrance to the underground station but it was later changed to a stairwell leading to a walking tunnel to the hospital and the north entrance to the underground.
The drivers were sent to hospital (200 metres) and the passenger in the taxi was treated on site.

I hope you can se this picture:

I don't think the bus will be there tomorrow so I can take a picture of it.

Tak for det.

Looks like the bus driver avoided serious injury even though the damage to the vehicle is comprehensive.

Yes, I have not heard of any serious injuries.
Night bus 691 going towards the city at 01:40 a sunday morning is not very crowded. Don't know if there were any passengers onboard. But if there were they probably were asleep somewhere in the rear or middle part of the bus (they usually sit there on night buses) as there were no injured passengers.

The police have now finished their investigation and their result is that the accident was caused by the Taxi Driver when he failed to yield when he entered the roundabout.
The bus was not driving to fast.
The bus driver got injuries on his ribs, but are now back behind the wheels again. Luckily there were not passengers on the bus at that moment.
It is still not clear about who will pay for the damages but probably it will be the taxi companys insurance. The elevator and the stairwell walls were damaged. The stairwell opened about two weeks ago but are still under repair. The elevetor is not repaired yet

And the bus are still being repaired.

Do all your buses operate with 'tachographs'?

UK operators have a choice (depending on distance of the route).
If the distance is less than 50kms then they can run under UK rules (without tachos).

Some operators have split their route (they change the destination blind but passengers are through-ticketed) and the vehicle stays the same.

One route that I know of was originally 'direct' (95 kms) but now it is split into three - 45kms, 34kms and 16kms.

Only routes over 50 kms use tachographs, and there arent many routes that are that long. 676 Stockholm - Norrtälje is one and they use Tachograph (digital)).
But the operator Arriva have equipment installed that records speed, turns/acceleration and energy-efficient driving and it can be used to show what speed the bus had. And are also used to check if drivers drive smootly or not (if they turn at high speed etc). And that equipment showed that the bus was driving at a speed suitable for the situation (driving through a big roundabout) (it is possible to drive in almost a straight line if no other cars are in the roundabout and you are driving from buslane to buslane)

All buses in sweden have tachographs but they are rarely used on regional and city services.
