New guy from the States

I’ve recently started searching for a vintage bus to convert into a motor home and close to my house here in Michigan I spotted this old trasnsit bus that looks to already been converted to a motor home some years ago and looks like it has been sitting for about 10 years.
I don’t know a year or make and model which I’m hoping my fellow members here can help me figure that out and what something like this may be worth. Thanks |
Ok, I finally got ahold of the owner and he said it’s a 1949, has a Continental flathead 6 cylinder gas engine and 3 speed manual trans. It’s a GM Old Look bus but not sure the exact model, from some searching I think it may be a TGM-3207 which according to wiki they only made 101 of them. But that is just a guess at this point. It does have air brakes and currently the starter is out and the cooling fan is broken.
Hopefully will have more Info this weekend. |

that looks great, I hope the fuel is still cheap there as the flat heads used to think it was free, good about the air brakes though as in Britain we kept on with fluid rubbish for years, and this has become a serious money head ache for restoring old motors as although we now bore out and insert stainless sleeves in the cylinders you are looking at as much as £1000 $1350. let us know how it pans out, alan.
