True enough, Ian. You can also buy maps with weight and width limits on them
but they only show them for the more important roads. From experience (14'2" trailer. 13'7" bridge) I know there are more low bridges in Manchester than my map book shows.
I know one driver who has a top of the range truck sat-nav and he swears by it. I will be buying one, when the current one dies or, I win some money. For now though, cheap Tom-Tom (onto which I have downloaded 2 lots of bridge height POI.), bridge heights map and 30+ years of experience will have to do.
