Ace Cafe Weedon Northants
Bit of a long shot, but has anyone got a photo of the Ace Cafe at Weedon Northants, when it was open, I worked there for best part of a Year and would love a picture of it.

Hello folks, I dont think I remember it like the pictures so far posted.. I am sure it was larger than that. with big front windows and trees in front of that ..maybe I am wrong was it not on the northside of the A45? .I never went insidevery often always trying to get back to Maidstone before I ran out of hours with about 3.1/4 hours from home.. I think they might have had driver accomodation there and I seem to remember drivers overnighting going to the Duncow for evening refreshment.. I bet I have got it totally wrong...Regards Alan

If you mean the one on the left, going out of Leeds, before the A1, yes it's still there.
My expert can't remember if it's an early Olypian or a Daimler Fleetline. |

hi redd9, thanks for responding, i guess you would have lived pretty local to have worked at the ace then. as soon as i saw the pic put up by G-CPTN (thanks to him) i recognized it straight off. Did it always stay as a cafe? one thing i find strange is the junction a5/45 weedon,i dont remember it being the way it is now when we used the cafe back then, they must have altered it quite a bit over the years. :) erfman

Did it ever become part of the "sausage" chain? There were a few cafes, around Northampton(shire) that had sausage as part of their name. Flying Sausage and Sizzling Sausage were, I think, two. One of them was in Northampton proper. Somwhere near the Carlsberg brewery, I think.

I guess that most drivers take their breaks in the cab (larger than in the olden days) and have storage facilities (fridges) for food and drink. In addition, meal prices are probably higher nowadays (lower demand from truckers).
