Cambridgeshire Busway due to open
A long-awaited guided busway system for Cambridgeshire is due to open this weekend.
Buses will run between Cambridge and Huntingdon on dedicated tracks in a bid to cut road congestion. The system was originally expected to begin carrying passengers in spring 2009, but the scheme has been plagued by delays and contractual disputes. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will mark the official unveiling of the £116m project on Sunday. Busway services will run seven days a week and the council anticipates that 3.5 million trips will be taken on the buses each year. Key stops will include Trumpington, Longstanton and Addenbrookes Hospital. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...shire-14418525 |
