Name Changes
Having viewed Robertdavey6 photo taken on Northampton Services on the M1. Set me thinking how many Motorway Services have under gone a name change.
Rothersthorpe to Northampton Anderton to Bolton (I think, not been to Gods Country for a while) Can't remember the original name but the last one south bound on M1 changed to London Gateway. Anybody know of any more? Ian

Farthing Corner is now Medway.
Hilton Park is, I think, Birmingham North I presume the idea is to more "instinctively" locate them for the general motorists. Bloody confusing for the older drivers who still use the old names. I refer to Rothersthorpe and one driver (31ish) doesn't know where I mean. |

"Original name (Farthing Corner) is derived like most MSA from the nearest village, the name change to Medway, represents the M2's role as the Medway towns by-pass "
So we lose the names that suggest a rural location and replace them with faceless route locations . . . |
