Identifying Old Truck Help please!

Hi, New around here.

Doing some family history stuff, we have this old photo of my great-grand-father in law. Thought to be IIRO 1929 - looks like a WW1 era truck?

It is at a stonemason's business in Caterham, and we would love to know what make this truck is. we have searched the interweb until blue in the face and can't find that logo!

Any help would be gratefully received!

Hello Neil and welcome to the forum from all the staff, I have had a look through my books and can not find it but I think some of our experts on here will try their best for you.

It looks like the letters 'o r e'.

My first thought was Claymore - a name used by Albion for a model in the 1950s.
The shape of the radiator top tank is just as distinctive (and rules out the majority of makes from that era).

There was a make 'Beardmore' - but the radiator shape is different (and the logo is very different):-

Hi, thanks for the suggestions. It can't be a long name, as the O looks to be at the centre of the radiator tank. It does have a distinctive shape, which I have been using to look through hundreds of photos on Google, but not found anything. it looks like a WW1 cast off to me?

How's about you are all reading it wrong and, it's NOT an O but, a C.

A LACRE L type of 1939 fits the bill, I think.

rd6 has cracked it - the seemingly 'veteran' Lacre of 1919 was produced until 1935:-

https://www.gracesguide.co.uk/Lacre_Motor_Car_Co

https://www.google.co.uk/search?client=opera&hs=5vb&tbm=isch&q=lacre+lorrie s&chips=q:lacre+lorries,online_chips:lacre+motor&s a=X&ved=0ahUKEwigop3EteDaAhXmCMAKHXIWCvEQ4lYIJygB& biw=1028&bih=480&dpr=1.25#imgrc=_

I'm not suggesting any specific model, but some of the early designs were produced in unaltered appearance for a couple of decades, so the featured vehicle might seem older than it actually was.

Thank you SO MUCH guys! Long Acre makes sense too, with the Croydon based business.

Steve our nephew is over the moon, this has bugged him for a long time. He never knew Ron, but my wife did back when she was a nipper. This photo is on the lounge wall, and has been subject of much discussion over the years.

Now if you ever want to know anything about trains I'm your man :-)

Thanks to you all for your help, this has a lot of meaning for the family.

Best wishes,

Neil

Neil, You're welcome.
We aim to please and we do reasonably well with MOST queries.

I can help with trains, too.

All the best, Robert
