Vehicle graveyard
I have just been looking at a couple of websites, Urban Ghosts and 28 Days later, and they have some great pictures taken on the disused RAF Folkingham airfield in Lincolnshire. I don't have any personal experience of the place or how easy it is to get in, but it might be worth checking out for anyone who is close to it. The whole area appears to be packed with hundreds of old military vehicles, Scammells, AECs,Thornycroft and many more, plus old plant of all makes. It's even worth just looking at it on Google, it seems to be a real goldmine of old vehicles.

Back in the 1960s there was an airfield (visible from the East Coast mainline) somewhere near Newark that had acres and acres of neatly-parked military vehicles.
I don't remember being able to identify any of the makes, models or types. |
