Hello from Canterbury

Hello everyone,

I am Dave and live in Canterbury, Kent. My main interest is in preserved road transport both bus and lorry (unusually it would seem when reading the mags, since most lorry mags ban the word b*s and vice-versa).

The main hobby is steam and we have a 1917 traction engine, and until a few years ago an Atki Viewline and King knockout neck lowloader (I will post some photos of same). Sadly, the cost of keeping both engine and lorry meant the lorry had to go but I do hanker after a nice Scammell (although they seem to be going up in value).

Scrap left in the garden to restore includes a pre-second war Dyson trailer, formerly with Whitbread Brewers in Maidstone.

I got into all this vintage vehicle caper as a kid we used to run around on a family freinds 1946 Leyland Titan PD1 Ex Eastbourne open topper, JK 9115.

Sadly, while I still have the Class 1 licence, I dont get to use these days... unless I can persuade the other half we really need a low-loader - but I think there is slim chance of that happening.

Anyway, thats me.

Dave

Welcome, Dave, your hobby sounds most interesting, and I look forward to seeing your photographs - particularly the Dyson trailer.
I presume it is a turntable drawbar, though it might be a semi?
