How many miles?
A discussion on another forum site questions the ability of foreign trucks to drive around the UK without buying fuel.
What is a typical fuel-tank capacity of these foreigners, how many miles will they accumulate in a week (legal or otherwise) and what is their typical consumption? How frequently do you fill up when driving around the UK? Do you have preferred pick-up points (ie where you get free glasses or whatever the gifts that are given away these days ! ! ! ). I can remember truckies leaving forecourts with reams of Green Shield Stamps . . . |

Some of the foreigners, with 4x2 units, can carry around 1500 litres of fuel. I'd have to assume that they would have a suitable amount of Ad-blue (if required), too.
I doubt they would do enough miles, to need to refuel, in the UK. I'll let you do the calculations but, even at 8mpg, 1,500l will take you a long way. Personally, I tend to fill up, with about 300l each time, 5 times in two working weeks. I average between 1,200 & 1,500 miles per week, I think. As to where I fill up, my card doesn't allow me any "perks". Except, one place on the A1 gives me a free coffee! So, I choose the place that is most convienient, for me. Other cards do allow vouchers and that might make a small difference, to some drivers, between two places, if one site does and another doesn't issue incentives. |
